Police in Maryland say a man has been charged with assault for using a slingshot to fire glass marbles at a speed camera van.

Authorities say Bruce Lawrence May of Ellicott City was arrested Tuesday.

The 50-year-old Lawrence was also charged with destruction of property and reckless endangerment. He was released on $3,000 bond.

Howard County police say that at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, the van was near Manor Woods Elementary School when the operator heard something hit the side of the vehicle.

The operator saw a minivan pass and saw the driver with a slingshot fire another projectile at the speed camera van.

Police say that May had received two speed camera violations recently.

Speed cameras are lazy policing.

Outlaw speed cams. Make cops do their jobs. Speed cams mess up quite often and can be manipulated to generate fake results. Get some license plate spray or one of those plate covers and the speed cams won't be able to read your plates. That is really the way to go.

Yes being drunk behind the wheel is serious, yes doing 200km per hour down the freeway is dangerous... it's not what the average joe does, fairs fair! 5-10km per hour over isn't criminal... Jezzz how much of a nanny state/nation have we become!! Stop trying to stick ur greedy little paws into my wallet, you don't spend my taxes wisely and you want another go at my cash??.. Here's a suggestion go after the big organised criminals I hear they make millions, it might require a bit of hard work but I'd be a much happier voter if you took their money!

Revenue camera's

It's a joke.. build better roads, not more Revenue cameras. Councils are now switching speed zones 5 times within 3km to attempt to gain more revenue. Do an investigation on that SBS
