A new AFL academy for Indigenous youth is planned to open in Darwin next year, raising hopes it will provide new opportunities for kids living in rural areas. 

A new AFL academy for Indigenous youth is planned to open in Darwin next year.

Today, $15 million has been pledged by the Federal and Nothern Territory governments, and the AFL.

The centre will be named after Essendon AFL great, Michael Long, who hopes the new facility will give children living in rural Australia more opportunities.
