For the first time, India has overtaken China as Australia’s biggest source of migrants.

Indian newspaper columnist Ashok Malik says our reputation as a safe destination has been restored after a wave of bad publicity in the wake of several violent incidents towards Indian students three years ago.

Many, like 23-year-old dentistry student Raman Sidhu, who drives a cab on the weekends, came to pursue a career in a highly-skilled job.

“There is a lot of opportunity to go higher,” he says.

But while many Indian migrants see Australia as a land of great opportunity, there are still those who believe their skills aren’t being recognised as they should be in their homeland.

That hasn’t stopped almost 30,000 Indian migrants who have arrived in Australia in the last financial year.

As a chinese, I have anticipated that early or late india will rank top one as resouce of migrants. India have thousands of educated young generation, with reputation of working hard, intelligence and most of all, there is one thing chinese are hard to compete with Indina people, that your english capability is much better than us.
