The US faces three major choices when it comes to dealing with the rising power of China in Asia, Professor of Strategic Studies at the ANU Hugh White says.

While the best outcome would be for both countries to share power in Asia, that's not the path being forged at the moment, Professor White belives.

The US can withdraw from Asia, try to contain its rival or come to an agreement about China's expanding role in Asia, he says.
