Two Australian soldiers have received minor wounds from a bomb blast in Afghanistan.

Two Australian soldiers were wounded in a bomb blast in Afghanistan last week.

Defence said on Tuesday the soldiers were supporting Afghan National Security Force operations in Uruzgan province when an improvised explosive device blew up.

They received minor wounds and were taken to a hospital for assessment.

Acting Chief of Joint Operations Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore said the pair had since been released from hospital and had contacted their families about the incident.
