Community groups have warned that your every move on the internet could soon be monitored by intelligence agencies.

A parliamentary committee is examining proposals to give authorities greater powers to oversee Australians' use of websites such as Twitter and Facebook.

And that’s raised concerns that the proposed changes to national security laws could lead to widespread privacy breaches.

But as SBS Political Reporter, Richard Davis reports, the Attorney-General argues counter-terrorism laws need to adapt to emerging threats.
