The sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg says online communities should crack down on anonymous name handles in order to stamp out cases of bullying and hate speech.

The sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Randi Zuckerberg, says online communities should crack down on anonymous name handles in order to stamp out cases of bullying and hate speech.

But there is a fine line between moderating a community and impinging on free speech, said Ms Zuckerberg, who is also a former marketing manager of Facebook.

“I do think in some ways it is a bit of a grey area where people should step in and where they shouldn't - there's free speech in most of the world and social media platforms whether you agree with them or not they still have the right to post that,” she said.

“It's very difficult to come up with laws that apply to the entire world.”
