Matching a patient with a suitable donor can be dependent on their racial background.

We all hope life saving treatment such has been developed with the use of umbilical cord blood will not be needed by those we love. However for some, such as our family, we now face the reality of possibly needing such help. Please, all future parents take a few moments to give permission for your child's cord blood to be collected and offer some other children a chance for a healthy life. The gift of life is the greatest gift of all and it's in your hands to be able to do this.

It's great to see how mothers can contribute to the health of others.
