Settlement deal in Vic workplace porn case

An air traffic controller who alleged she was exposed to porn in the workplace has settled out of court.

Airservices Australia says it does not tolerate inappropriate workplace behaviour, after settling out of court with a woman who claims she was exposed to porn in the workplace.

Air traffic controller Kirsty Fletcher alleged she was subjected to bullying and sex discrimination by Airservices Australia.

A trial was expected to start on Wednesday in the Federal Court, but a settlement was reached.

The settlement was confirmed by spokespeople for Ms Fletcher's lawyers and the national air traffic control service.

Both said it included a strict confidentiality clause.

Airservices Australia said it did not tolerate inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.

"Airservices does not tolerate the alleged behaviour at the centre of these claims," it said in a statement.

"We have strong policies to deal with inappropriate behaviour in the workplace."

Ms Fletcher had alleged a substantial amount of pornographic material was stored on the computer system of the government-owned organisation and that an Airservices manager distributed it to other managers and staff regularly for years.

Her lawyers alleged last year that by allowing this to occur Airservices had breached the Sex Discrimination Act.

"Our client was exposed to pornographic sexual images while at work. We believe that by allowing this to occur, Airservices breached the federal Sex Discrimination Act," Maurice Blackburn principal Josh Bornstein said in a statement last year.
