Authorities have intercepted another boat carrying asylum seekers near the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

Australian authorities have intercepted an asylum seeker boat carrying 56 passengers.

The ACV Hervey Bay, operating under control of Border Protection Command, intercepted the boat north-northwest of Cocos (Keeling) islands overnight after it had been spotted by an RAAF aircraft.

The passengers will be transferred to Christmas Island for initial security, health and identity checks.

The government cautioned that people arriving in boats without visas now run the risk of having their claims processed in another country.

Three other boats carrying asylum seekers arrived in Australian waters over the weekend.

This really has gone past the joke stage and it is time that the Navy did what the opposition has said and turn a few around and send/tow them back and once the word gets around watch them start to slow down.Stop giving them so much and actually start to charge them for the things they are getting. They are all bloody liars anyway as they all have enough money for the people smugglers and all the travel they have done.Their culture is to lie amongst themselves so just imagine what they tell us.
