Kiwi ready to fight Danny Green

Australia's Danny Green will fight New Zealander Shane Cameron for the world cruiserweight title in Melbourne on November 21.

After waiting two years for a shot at Danny Green and a world title, New Zealander Shane Cameron is confident of a belt for himself and a belting for the Australian veteran.

West Australian Green will fight 34-year-old Kiwi Cameron on November 21 at Melbourne's Hisense Arena.

They will square off for the vacant IBO world cruiserweight title stripped from American Antonio Tarver following a recent positive drug test.

Green, 39, will be bidding to become a world champion for the fourth time.

But Cameron is lacking nothing in confidence, saying he intends to knock out Green - and that it is "my time" as he seeks to add to his 27-2 record.

"It's bad for (Tarver), bloody good for me," Cameron said of the opportunity.

"I'm ready. I'm going there to win.

"It's why I dropped a weight level in the first place - to fight for a world title and fight the calibre of Danny Green."

Cameron has been angling to fight Green for more than two years after dropping from heavyweight to cruiserweight.

He last fought as a heavyweight, knocking out American Monte Barrett in July, and will need to lose several kilograms to take part.

Green originally lost his title to Tarver in July last year.

But he said he had "no idea" whether Tarver was steroid-affected when the American fought and beat him, and didn't feel it would have affected the fight anyway.

Green blamed his own bad performance that night for his defeat, though he felt the fact Tarver wasn't drug-tested following it meant the American may have "dodged a bullet".

Tarver returned a positive test to a banned steroid taken prior to his next fight, a draw with Lateef Kayode in the US three months ago.

He has denied knowingly taking a banned drug.

Melbourne super-featherweight Will Tomlinson will defend his IBO world title on the Green-Cameron undercard against Panama's Irving Barry.
