Diamonds make one change for second Test

Defender Renae Hallinan has been introduced to the Australian squad for the second netball Test against New Zealand in Auckland.

Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander has made one change to her 12-player squad for the must-win second netball Test against New Zealand on Thursday.

The Silver Ferns now have two chances on home soil to clinch the series and take possession of the Constellation Cup that has been in Australia's hands since it was first up for grabs two years ago.

Diamonds defender Renae Hallinan has been called in for the Auckland international, replacing Rebecca Bulley from the squad who lost the first Test in Melbourne 54-52 on Sunday.

Hallinan was a late inclusion in the wider 15-player squad ahead of the Melbourne Test after the uncapped Ashleigh Brazill was ruled out through injury.

"It's exciting as it shows how serious we are about training form," Alexander said.

"She (Hallinan) has done everything in her power to make sure that she has been well prepared, she's really brought some intensity to the group and I'm very happy with what she has done."

Hallinan hasn't represented Australia since the 2010 Commonwealth Games final loss to New Zealand in New Delhi.

Diamonds vice-captain Catherine Cox, who needs just one more Test cap to record her 100th Test appearance, retains her place in the squad as she seeks to become the fourth Australian player to reach a century of internationals.

Australian team: Natalie von Bertouch (captain), Caitlin Bassett, Erin Bell, Madison Browne, Bianca Chatfield, Julie Corletto, Catherine Cox, Laura Geitz, Mo'onia Gerrard, Kimberlee Green, Renae Hallinan, Natalie Medhurst.
