A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with punching a police officer during a protest that turned violent in Sydney at the weekend.

Hours later, another teenager was also arrested and charged in relation to the same violent protests.

Police have now charged 11 males - including eight men and three juveniles - over the September 15 demonstrations sparked by the YouTube clip, Innocence of Muslims.

The 16-year-old youth was arrested at a house in Bankstown on Friday afternoon, and charged with punching a riot squad police officer in the face during the protest at Hyde Park.

He was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm, assault, affray and possessing a prohibited drug but was granted conditional bail to appear in Parramatta Children's Court on October 11.

Shortly before 10.30pm (AEST) on Friday, a 19-year-old man attended Bankstown police station, where he was arrested and subsequently charged with assaulting a police officer and committing an act of animal cruelty.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court on October 17.

Strike Force McAlister, formed after the riots, has now laid 25 charges ranging from assaulting police to malicious wounding and throwing missiles.

Ahmed Elomar, a 29-year-old former boxing champion, is the only man charged over the riots to have been denied bail.

He has been previously charged with affray but on Friday, he was charged with hitting a police officer with a flagpole, causing a gaping head wound.
