A new business has opened in Tokyo's Akihabara offering hugs - at a price.

It may be one of the busiest cities in the world, but life for workaholics in Tokyo can be an immensely lonely one.

Many are longing for the warmth of a hug, but as CNN’s Alex Zolbert discovered, this simple gesture comes at a price.

In Akihabara, former salaryman Masashi Koda has started a business where patrons can pay about $40 to sleep next to a girl for 20 minutes.

Mr Koda said his sleeping speciality shop is strictly about cuddles and nothing more.

The business has already attracted many customers; some of whom are young men looking for companionship in a stressful environment.
