A car bombing at a crowded market in Baghdad killed 13 people and injured at least 20.

Roadside bombs aimed at American military patrols killed five soldiers and wounded five others in Baiji, northern Iraq.

Meanwhile, sectarian tensions have surfaced at a reconciliation meeting for Iraq's political and religious leaders which is underway in Egypt.

The Iraqi President and Prime Ministers have insisted that no members of former president Saddam Hussein's Baathist Party should be allowed to take part in a reconciliation conference planned for next year.
