When Marylin Christian found her cat dead in front of her home she quickly suspected the German shepherd mix belonging to her neighbours.
When authorities said they couldn't act because there were no witnesses to the attack Christian took a cue from television legal dramas and turned to DNA evidence.
She sent samples of the dog's fur and saliva to a lab which concluded the dog was linked to the cat's death.
Christian wanted the dog declared dangerous but officials still couldn't make a case because there were no witnesses.
