Two accused couriers, who claim Chan forced them into the operation with death threats, will also hear their verdicts on Tuesday.

The prosecution is seeking life in prison Martin Stephens, 29, and Michael Czugaj, 20.

They are likely to receive the same life sentence as two other drug mules sentenced on Monday.

The court convicted Renae Lawrence and 20-year-old Scott Rush for their roles as couriers in the conspiracy to smuggle 8.3kg of heroin to Australia.

Both were sentenced to spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

For Lawrence, it was a heavy blow after prosecutors called for the lightest sentence of 20 years in prison because she had cooperated with police.

Prayers

Chan, who claims to have rediscovered his Christian faith since being locked up, said he is praying with an Australian minister for divine intervention.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Andrew Chan, the accused 'Godfather' of the operation, and Myuran Sukumaran, the alleged enforcer.

The lawyer for the two, Mohammad Rifan, is confident: "To be sure we will get the justice in our country."

Appeals

Meanwhile Lawrence and Rush will be preparing appeals.

Lawrence's lawyer Anggia Browne said she is "bitter" about the verdict because she believed the other couriers had pressured judges into giving her client the same life sentence.

"We discussed with her that we will appeal because it's not normal, normally the sentence like that is two-thirds (of what prosecutors demand)," Ms Browne said after the verdict.

"The other three complained about the 20 years."

Ms Browne also said she was concerned about how Lawrence would cope with the decision, as the 28-year-old had attempted suicide since her arrest in April last year.

The final three Bali Nine accused will hear their sentences on Wednesday.

The prosecution is seeking life in prison for Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen, 24, Si Yi Chen, 20, and Matthew Norman, 19.
