A prominent small business group says job security for workers now depends on their attitude in the workplace, after the introduction of the federal government's new industrial relations system.
Under the new laws, unfair dismissal provisions have been removed for companies with less than 100 employees.
The Australian Council of Trade Unions says the system is already being used to dismiss workers for trivial reasons.
But the chief executive of the Council of Small Business Associations in Australia, Tony Steven, says workers have nothing to fear.
"If you're working in a happy environment, one where you make sure you have the right attitude and you are working productively and efficiently, you will have job security through that.
"Employers are looking for people with those attitudes and skills and we are not about to get rid of staff if they are the right people, at the right place at the right time."
