Ten days after cyclone Larry devastated north Queensland, cyclone Glenda is poised to cross Western Australia's far north coast.
Communities in the Pilbara region are stocking up on emergency supplies and seeking shelter in preparation for Glenda's 260-kilometre-per-hour winds.
Residents in low-lying areas of Karratha, Roeburn and Wickham have been warned about flooding caused by tidal surges.
The cyclone is expected to cross the WA coast somewhere between the major mining, oil and gas shipping ports of Dampier and Port Hedland.
