Western Australia's Pilbara coast appears to have escaped lightly after Cyclone Glenda, but the weather bureau says the storm still poses a threat to the region.
The Bureau's Carolyn Bojarski says the cyclone has been downgraded as it moves southwest of Onslow, but still carries winds of up to 115 kilometres an hour.
Onslow residents have also been warned they still face dangerously high storm tides.
Ms Bojarski says the effects of the cyclone might be felt in Perth over the weekend.
"We still have a cyclone warning out for all areas between Onslow and Geraldton and across inland, further western Pilbara, Gascoigne and far northern parts of the central west district.
"So there is still quite an extensive area which potentially could receive some gales and destructive winds with the cyclone as it moves further south."
