China's Premier, Wen Jiabao, lands in perth this evening as part of a four-day visit to Australia, arriving in Perth this evening for talks with the Federal Resources Minister, Ian Macfarlane.
China is expected to sign a bilateral agreement to buy Australian uranium, and pave the way for exploration.
Australia would have to double current production to meet China's surging energy needs.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry official told reporters earlier this week the agreement would include safeguards to ensure uranium was used for peaceful purposes.
