The Netherlands' Prime Minister, Jan Peter Balkenende, has arrived in Melbourne for five-day visit to Australia, in which he is expected to discuss joint military operations in Afghanistan.
He'll attend the Formula One Grand Prix, and tomorrow, visit a Dutch aged care facility before heading to Canberra.
It's likely he'll take part in talks on Australia's decision to send 200 additional troops to Afghanistan to join Dutch-led Nato reconstruction teams.
The deployment, to be sent late July, will bring the total number of Australian troops in AFGHANISTAN to about 500.
The Netherlands heads NATO's 18,500-member International Security Assistance Force.
