Trade unions have launched a website in Melbourne today which they say will help people left worse off by the new workplace laws to have a voice.

ACTU President Sharan Burrow says the Government is wrong when it says the sky won't fall in under the WorkChoices system.

An abattoir in Cowra, New South Wales, is among the first company to use the IR laws.

It has sacked its workers and reinvited them to reapply for their jobs for lower pay.

She says in the first week of the new laws, the ACTU has been contacted by workers from around Australia who have been sacked with no recourse to the old unfair dismissal provisions, or who have had their conditions, such as sick leave, downgraded.
