The federal opposition says the customs minister, Chris Ellison, must fully inform Australians about dangerous lapses in security at Sydney airport.
Senator Ellison has confirmed someone tampered with security cameras in the baggage-handling area on three occasions between October 2004 and May 2005.
Labor M-P John Murphy says it raises new concerns over the Schapelle Corby case and endangers all travellers.
He says Senator Ellison must give Australians all the details.
"We have to know what inquiries and investigations the Customs department undertook when this first occurred, because it has occurred again and again, and it is clear that they are making a mockery of security in a high-risk security area and people are at risk.
"So they should have nipped this in the bud and dealt with it as soon as it came to light to make sure it never happened again."
