Residents in the Northern Territory town of Kathering have started evacuating as floodwaters threaten.
Nursing-home residents and hospital patients have been moved, and other residents have been told to go to local schools if they need to get out of their homes.
The Katherine River has reached 18-point-five metres and is predicted to peak around 19 metres.
About 50 homes in the north and south of the town reportedly have about half a metre of water inside them, and water is over the main road.
