The Deputy Prime Minister, Mark Vaile, says he is happy to appear before the Cole Inquiry in Sydney next week.
Mr Vaile has been asked to appear as a witness on Monday, while the Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer has been asked to appear on Tuesday.
Counsel assisting the Inquiry says the two will give evidence based upon statutory statements submitted to the Inquiry on Thursday.
Mr Vaile denies its embarrassing to be asked to appear:
"We as a government took the decision to set this inquiry up in the first place, wanting to ensure that all information was brought before the inquiry so that commissioner Cole can fully investigate, under the terms of reference, what we asked him to investigate."
The commissioner, Terence Cole, says he will consider the applications over the weekend, before making a decision on whether to allow the lawyers representing the A-W-B executives, to cross-examine the foreign minister.
