The Federal Greens Senator, Bob Brown, says the Federal Government's plans to stop Papuan asylum seekers from entering Australia, will force them under "house arrest" in their own country.
The comments follow an announcement from the Prime Minister, John Howard, earlier this week, saying he won't encourage separatism in Indonesia.
But Senator Brown says Labor and the Howard government's policy on Indonesia is in contrast to what they advocate in Iraq.
"They want (freedom) in Iraq, they don't want it in our neighbourhood. And it's simply incongruous, and leaves our country looking like it's selective when it comes to human rights."
