Detainees at the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in Sydney are now boarding buses to go to other detention centres, after refusing to board earlier today.

The Department of Immigration says that the detainees are now willing to move after being given an official document stating that they will return to Villawood.

The detainees feared the move would be permanent and the community links they have made over the past few years would be severed.

But Ian Rintoul, from the Refugee Action Coalition, says some of the detainees remain concerned.

"They have really got no reason to trust the government.

"They see them as entirely duplicitous, and I think that is totally understandable.

"The fact that the initial piece of paper had no signature on it inflamed their concerns.

"They now have got signatures on it but of course a lot of the trust has gone, and it went a long time ago."
