The number of people migrating to Australia continued to increase in the last half of 2005.

More than 65-thousand-800 migrants arrived between July and December, an increase of eight-point-eight per cent on the previous six months.

Once again the number of people arriving to live in Australia overtook the number of emigrants, and the country's population rose by around eleven-point-seven per cent.

Most of the migrants continue to arrive from Europe with Britain accounting for the majority, closely followed by New Zealand and Asia.
