The federal government has signed five-year agreements to co-operate on delivery of services to indigenous people in another two states, South Australia and New South Wales.

The new agreements have been announced in joint statements issued today by the Prime Minister John Howard, and the Premiers of South Australia, Mike Rann, and New South Wales, Morris Iemma.

Both statements say the agreements will aim to improve the living conditions, health and education of Aboriginal people in the two states.

Other aims include better housing, and helping Aboriginal people to start up new businesses.

Similar agreements have already been signed between the federal government and the governments of Queensland and the Northern Territory.
