After a spate of thefts and high rates of car crime, Swedish giant Ikea has taken to using the former Nepalese soldiers to patrol the store in Giltbrook, Nottingham.

Since the team took over three weeks ago, not a single crime has been reported.

David Attle, risk controller at the store, said: "It's true that there has been no crime in the car park at all since the Ghurkas came in.

"Prior to their appointment we had quite a high incident rate and it's a pleasure to say that since we have had the Ghurkas doing the patrols we haven't had a single incident so far."

The security team of five were previously trained and served with the British army.
