An Australian cardiologist charged with ordering the murder of his estranged wife last year in Uganda has been denied bail in his second try.

The Kampala High Court Justice Opio Aweri has rejected Ugandan-born Aggrey Kiyingi's application.

He says the circumstances surrounding the death of a co-defendant in the case might lead Mr Kiyingi to flee the country.

The Sydney based physician is accused of conspiring to kill his wife, lawyer Robinah Kiyingi, who was shot dead last July in Kampala.

Police arrested Mr Kiyingi when he returned to Uganda to attend her funeral.

He runs a private practice in Sydney's west-suburban Merrylands.
