Federal Liberal MP Petro Georgiou has won a bitter preselection battle in his safe seat of Kooyong in Melbourne's east.
Mr Georgiou won the backing of his local branch members by a margin of 62 to 22, under challenge from Joshua Frydenberg, a former advisor to John Howard and Alexander Downer.
Mr Georgiou says the result is evidence there's room in the Liberal Party for many opinions.
"I think it's an endorsement of the Liberal Party as a broad church," he said.
