Australian soldiers in the Middle East are marking Anzac Day with traditional dawn services and wreath-laying.
The commander of Australian forces in Iraq, Brigadier Paul Symon, says they are modest services, like those held at war memorials around Australia.
But Brigadier Symon says this year's services have special significance, coming so soon after the death of Private Jacob Kovco.
Clearly, it's an important day of reflecting on all those who have gone before us, and we're flagbearers to that tradition and we feel that very, very acutely," he said.
