The British government is likely to rule this week on whether a former United Nations customs official can give evidence to the Cole Inquiry into the wheat scandal.
If she is cleared to fly to Sydney, Felicity Johnston will face questions over how she alerted Australian government officials to AWB kickbacks.
She had alerted Foreign Affairs and Trade officials to complaints about the kickbacks to Saddam Hussein's former Iraqi government six years ago.
Ms Johnston now works for the British Customs Service, which is why she needs government permission to attend the hearing in Australia.
