The Cole Inquiry into the Iraq wheat scandal resumes today after a two-week break.

And it comes as the head of the Jordanian trucking company at the centre of the scandal says it dealt with Austrade as far back as the mid-1990s.

A United Nations report named the trucking company, Alia, as the "middle man" giving bribes from the former Australian Wheat Board to the former Iraqi government.

Government ministers have consistently denied having any knowledge of Alia's role in the kickbacks until last year.

But the managing director, Othman Al-Absi says he considered dealings with Austrade dealings with the Australian government.
