On the tenth anniversay of the Port Arthur massacre, the Labor MP and former federal justice minister, Duncan Kerr, says it's time to review the law on hand guns.
Mr Kerr says it was largely overlooked after the massacre because it was felt controls were tight enough.
State Greens MP, Lee Rhiannon is calling on the New South Wales government to ban semi-automatic handguns.
And the Prime Minister, John Howard, says more can be done at state level.
But the renegade Nationals' senator, Barnaby Joyce says he will oppose any attempt to tighten the laws.
