The military says a plan last year to better handle the repatriation of soldiers who die overseas was dropped after coroners rejected it.

The scheme was drawn up after the Sea King helicopter disaster in Indonesia.

The military and the Federal Government have been severely embarrassed by a mix-up that saw the wrong body flown to Australia after the death of Private Jake Kovco in Iraq.

Mario Gomes from Kenyon International, the company responsible for repatriating Private Kovco's remains, says it cannot take responsibility until all the facts are known.
