Police still doens't know what led to the train crash in Victoria that left to two people dead and 40 injured yesterday afternoon.
Police say the two-carriage passenger train was travelling from Melbourne to Ararat when it hit a truck at a level crossing near the town of Beaufort.
Public transport campaigners say they have been warning the Victorian government that people would die unless all level crossings were removed ot upgraded.
But Victoria's transport minister Peter Batchelor has told the A-B-C he does not know whether the accident could have been prevented if there were boom gates at the level crossing.
Police will return to the scene today to try to determine what caused the crash.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
