Mine authorities in northern Tasmania say both the trapped miners, Todd Russell and Brant Webb, are calm and upbeat.
The Australian Workers Union national secretary, Bill Shorten, says the men are in contact with their families and have received drawings from their kids.
The two men have entered their eighth day trapped in a tiny cage 12 metres underground after last week's rockfall at the Beaconsfield Gold Mine.
Mr Shorten says both men continue to help their rescuers trying to reach them, passing word about ground conditions and any falling rocks.
"The men are in very good spirits. Over the night, both of the families have been sending items."
He says; "The Webbs have sent down some deodorant and some toothpaste. I know there was some personal correspondence -- I don't know what was in it -- was sent from Russells."
