The trapped miners, Todd Russell and Brant Webb, are determined to walk out once there rescuers have finished drilling their escape tunnel.

The men trapped in Tasmania's Beaconsfield Gold Mine have spent 11 uncomfortable nights almost one kilometre underground, and rescue workers are now only a few metres away.

The rescue mission was stalled overnight because a piece of equipment needed to be mended.

One paramedic at the site, Peter James, says that the two men should walk out if they are fit to do so.
