Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer will travel to the Solomon Islands next week for talks with the country's new Prime Minister
Manasseh Sogavare.

Mr Downer is expected to raise concerns over the inclusion of two MP's accused of involvement in recent riots in the new government's cabinet.

Hundreds of Australian soldiers and police are currently serving in the Solomon Islands with additional forces arriving in the wake of last month's riots in the capital Honiara.

Mr Sogavare has indicated their needs to be an exit strategy for the multinational force.
