Federal Senator Sandy Macdonald will visit the Solomon Islands today in the wake of Australian criticism of the makeup of the country's new government.
The visit comes after criticism from Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Downer on two appointments to the cabinet of Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.
Charles Dausabea and Nelson Ne'e were both arrested by Australian Police on charges related to last months riots.
Mr Dausabea has been given the Police and National Security portfolios, while Mr Ne'e is the new Minister for Tourism and Culture.
Senator Macdonald will also visit Australian Defence Force personnel serving in Honiara.
