The legal team for Australian Guantanamo Bay detainee, David Hicks, say it hopes to confirm by tomorrow news of a British court's decision in his favour.
It has been widely reported over the weekend that the British Government has been blocked from any more legal appeals against the granting of British citizenship to Mr Hicks.
His Australian lawyer, David McLeod, says when the courts start work for the week in London he will be able to confirm the reports.
Mr McLeod says he believes the British Government will try to have Mr Hicks released from Guantanamo Bay.
"The law has now been tested, and the British Government does have a tradition of accepting the umpire's decision in these matters."
"And so we would hope that having received the umpire's decision the Government will simply go into bat for its newest citizen, namely David Hicks." He says
Mr Hicks has spent four-and-a-half years in American custody, and has been charged with terror-related offences.
