Australia's decision to grant asylum to 42 Papuans in March riled the Indonesian government.

Indonesia withdrew its ambassador to Australia after the decision to grant refuge to the asylum seekers from the Indonesian province.

Mr Downer says the meeting would be the next stage in the reconciliation process but it has not been arranged yet.

Mr Downer says he and Hassan Wirayuda will both be in Singapore on Monday and it might be a convenient time to meet.
