Police say 40-year-old John Howard Amundsen, of Aspley in Brisbane's north, will face court today on three terrorism-related charges.

He was initially charged with fraudulently obtaining explosives, but Superintendent Paul Wilson says police added the three charges yesterday.

"The charges are: an act done in preparation for terrorist acts, using a carriage (telephone) service to make a threat and using a carriage service for a bomb hoax -- I beg your pardon, a bomb threat. That is, a telecommunication device."

"Further charges of fraud and charges under the explosives regulations will be also preferred." He says.

Mr Amundsen has denied any terrorist links and says the stockpiled explosives were to be used in special effects for a television production.
