The lawyer for Australian woman Vivian Solon says a senior government official knew his client was unfit to fly when she was wrongfully deported to the Philippines.

George Newhouse claims to have an email between Ms Solon's case manager and the third in command at the Department of Immigration.

Mr Newhouse says the email details Ms Solon's condition, with advice she was unfit to fly.

He says the document shows the full truth of the matter has yet to be revealed.

“The government really has put the position that Vivian's deportation was the result of bumbling by low level officers in the Brisbane office of the Department of Immigration. Now we have evidence that it goes all the way up to the top of the Department of Immigration and that's a very serious development.” Mr Newhouse said.

The revelation comes as speculation continues on the level of compensation Ms Solon may receive for her wrongful deportation, and four years spent in a convent in the Philippines.

Some reports have suggested Ms Solon may receive in excess of $10-million as arbitration between the government and Ms Solon's lawyers continues.

The Opposition Spokesperson for Immigration, TONY BURKE says the Australian public will be forced to pay heavily for the mistakes made by the Department of Immigration.

‘No money will ever compensate Vivian for the treatment that has occurred to her and for the permanent damage that has been done for health.

‘But every Australian tax payer will also have to pay, and pay many millions of dollars for the incompetence of the department of immigration.’ Mr Burke said.
