The acting Prime Minister Mark Vaile, has urged the coalition backbencher, who has criticised the government's child care measures to take a closer look at the budget.
Liberal backbencher Jackie Kelly, says the opposition takes childcare more seriously than her own party and last weeks budget is a missed opportunity.
But Mr Vaile says the budget will support the number of childcare places.
Ms Kelly says she wants to speak to the Prime Minister, John Howard about the matter.
The Prime Minister says he is happy to talk to his colleagues.
