The event, called Breaking the Ice in Cronulla, aims to encourage greater cultural harmony following the riot and ensuing violence six months ago.
Author Taghred Chandab will speak at the event about growing up as a Lebanese Muslim in Australia.
She says the broader community often doesn't realise that Lebanese Muslims and Lebanese Christians experience very similar levels of discrimination.
“If you meet a Muslim Lebanese or a Christian Lebanese, they'll tell you about the same experiences they've had with their parents, with the cultural differences, the clashes they've had, the massive gap between the young people and their parents, trying to understand their parents' culture, trying to hang on to it but at the same time trying to build their own life here in Australia,” he said.
