One of the organisers, Simon Cunich, says the workplace changes have already had an impact on students because many of them work in low-paid jobs on individual contracts.
The University of Sydney student says ongoing protests are likely until the laws are changed.
“If they think that it is going to happen just this once, then it is a lot easier for them to ignore them (the students). This is the start of a campaign that will continue to involve high school students, young workers, uni students, that aims to defeat the Howard government's workplace laws,” Mr Cunich said.
